“‘The Colony’ was the first of its kind in the world as a destination for tennis enthusiasts from around the world. U.S. Presidents, diplomats from various countries, tennis pros, athletes, movie & television celebrities & the elite all visited here during the period that it was in operation. Property was the first in the state of Florida to operate as a time share destination. Units would be available for vacation packages with tennis lessons, spa, wedding & event packages. This resort set the standard for the area’s fine cuisine which was modeled after the restaurant on the property. The restaurant was known globally for its excellent cuisine, friendly service, best fine wine selection in the region & served special events throughout the years. In the end, the property fell into disrepair in which there was a dispute with the property owner & the unit owners. The disagreement ended in chapter 7 bankruptcy which liquidated the owners property along with the bar/restaurants assets being sold off. The property is in limbo currently with a developer & the owners of the timeshare units. Until all the unit owners sell, the property will stand in its current shape.”
